Serves: 8 slices | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 50-60 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup sugar (or 1/2 cup honey for a healthier alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Optional Add-ins:
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
    • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
    • Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in.
    • Add the flour gradually, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
    • Fold in the optional add-ins, if using.
  3. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool and serve:
    • Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use browned butter instead of melted butter.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Freeze individual slices for a quick and easy snack later.
